Notes on Cardinals That Are Characterizable by a Complete (Scott) Sentence
Building on [4], [8] and [9] we study which cardinals are characterizable by a Scott sentence, in the sense that φM characterizes κ, if it has a model of size κ, but not of κ. We show that if אα is characterizable by a Scott sentence and β < ω1, then אα+β is characterizable by a Scott sentence. If 0 < γ < ω1, then the same is true for 2אα+γ . Also, אא0 α is characterizable by a Scott sentence. ...
متن کاملCHARACTERIZING STABLE COMPLETE ERDŐS SPACE BY Jan
We focus on the space Ec , the countable infinite power of complete Erdős space Ec. Both spaces are universal spaces for the class of almost zerodimensional spaces. We prove that Ec has the property that it is stable under multiplication with any complete almost zero-dimensional space. We obtain this result as a corollary to topological characterization theorems that we develop for Ec . We also...
متن کاملGeneralizing the powerset construction, coalgebraically
Coalgebra is an abstract framework for the uniform study of different kinds of dynamical systems. An endofunctor F determines both the type of systems (F-coalgebras) and a notion of behavioral equivalence (∼F) amongst them. Many types of transition systems and their equivalences can be captured by a functor F. For example, for deterministic automata the derived equivalence is language equivalen...
متن کاملCharacterizing Complete Erdős Space
The space now known as complete Erdős space Ec was introduced by Paul Erdős in 1940 as the closed subspace of the Hilbert space l2 consisting of all vectors such that every coordinate is in the convergent sequence {0} ∪ {1/n : n ∈ N}. In a solution to a problem posed by Lex G. Oversteegen we present simple and useful topological characterizations of Ec. As an application we determine the class ...
متن کاملThe Avrunin-scott Theorem for Quantum Complete Intersections
We prove the Avrunin-Scott theorem for quantum complete intersections; the rank variety of a module is isomorphic to its support variety.
